Daragh McLeer

Father, husband, ex dj and a wannabe runner. Born in the 80’s, found a love for music in the 90’s, I was dj for the 00’s but after starting a family I gave it all up in the 10’s!

All I want - Angel Moon

I was around 17 when this song came out and it was around this time I started going to nightclubs. When you were too young to get into nightclubs you had to go early in the night to make sure you got in past the bouncers, so that if you didn’t get in you had time to go somewhere else. The big nightclub in the town I lived in was called Life, and it was always hit and miss from one week to next weather you would get in or not. I remember one of the first times I did get in hearing this track and I had no idea what it was. It has a really driving bass line in it and when you are in a club that is only starting to fill up I can remember my whole body nearly shaking from the bass. There was no Shazam back then and I didn’t have the balls to go ask the dj what the track was, so it was probably a couple of weeks before I even found out the name of the track!

Song 2

Girls & Boys - Blur

As I said I found a love of music in the 90’s, and in the 90’s for music there was only one question “blur or oasis” . For me it was always blur, I was lucky enough to see them play a few times over the years. The first time was in 1995 in the point depot, it was the first gig I ever went to. I think they played girls and boys near the end of the set in the encore and I just remember being swept up in the crowd and being bounced around all over the place as this played out. As I said it was the first gig I ever went to and it was so loud, going to bed that night I could still hear the music buzzing around my head

Song 3

Down in the river to pray - Alison Krauss

When I got married we decided to hire a Gospel choir for the church to provide the music. We got married in December and it was freezing in the church and my wife was fashionable late. This was the song the gospel choir sung as she walked down the aisle, I can remember the moment of turning around and seeing her and this song is very much apart of that.
