Mark Shortt (Most people know me as Shorty)
I am a proud husband and father - and a Dj from Belfast, that has always been massively into music for as long as I can remember. I must have been 4 or 5 years old when my parents were constantly playing their 70s and Country LPs (I know lol - google LP if you don’t…!) and fell in love with music then.
I do have my kids melted with my music even now, its important to me to pass the baton on…! 😊From Country through to Trance and everything in-between, I honestly love the moments it can create and then bring you back with a few bars when you hear it.
I have been DJ’ing since I bought my first set of belt-drive turntables (26 years ago..!!!) and been since then in clubs since then. I’ve been lucky enough to play in most of the Pubs and Clubs in Belfast and some across Ireland.
I’ve also been blessed to play gigs in UK, Spain, Ibiza and further afield.
But, we all know that theres no crowd like a Belfast crowd - (One more tune anyone…?)……! There are so many talented DJs/promoters/Artists/Musicians in Belfast and the NI scene, I feel blessed to be a small part of and privileged to share some of the venues with the community. The talent in Belfast alone is unreal.
Picking out 3 songs that made memorable moments was so tough (cheers Pete lol…!!!) and there were honestly literally loads of songs and moments that I could have went with - so I’ve went with one that I always listen to with my family, one that reminds me of nights out (back in the day) and a bit of a guilty pleasure that is a banger!
I just really love music and always have, I hope that comes across. Anytime I play a venue, it’s so important that we get the vibe right for the punters - and hopefully create some Music Moments for them too with our music 🙏

The Lonesome Boatman - The Fureys
We spend a lot of time up at the North Coast with our families, I have a playlist that is always on when we are having dinner or drinks with our family. I love anything and everything Irish, but this song always reminds me of our spiritual home - Cushendall and any family time ☘️

Young hearts Run Free (Way Out West Mix) - Hannah Jones
Banger. this song is going on over 20 years and has stood the test of time very well. It really reminds me of so many nights out in the early 2000s. EVERY club was banging this out and brings me right back to some heavy, sweaty and bouncing raves.
I still love to sneak it into a set when I can, if the situation allows.

Another Chance - Rodger Sanchez
One of the ultimate Ibiza soundtracks. I still remember seeing Rodger Sanchez in Mambo dropping this, then again on the same night in Cream at Amnesia. We’ve been to Ibiza so many times, when I was lucky enough to play there, dropping this track was an absolute goosebumps moment.
Always takes me right back, love it ❤️
